Merging
What it takes to merge an item up to every rank, from Common to Exalted Divine.
How merging works
Merging at the Blacksmith raises an item to the next rank. Each step needs copies of the same
item, and many steps also take a filler: any item of the same slot at the listed rank.
Where the table lists materials, you can pay with
equipment materials of that slot instead of a filler item. Materials come from salvaging gear.

- Exalted Divine is the top rank and cannot be merged further.
- The Blacksmith’s Quick Merge and Advanced Merge do several merges at once.
Tips
- Aim for Divine. Divine and higher ranks are where items gain the biggest stats, the True Divine and Exalted Divine final bonuses and the strongest runes when salvaged.
- Keep spare items of a slot. Fillers only need to match the slot and rank, so a spare Epic helmet can feed any helmet’s merge. Keep a few, not all: when your bag is full you cannot start runs or open chests until you merge or salvage.
- Merge before you salvage. An item that can still be a filler is often worth more than the Embers it salvages into.
